Gradual change is a dangerous thing. It can be the beginning of something beautiful, but oftentimes it is not appreciated as such for its lack of “jump”. Many forget, others are taught to forget. When norms and customs erode, it can and will be hard to see what you are missing, as well as experiencing.
House hunting is something I don’t really see myself doing anytime soon. To be quite honest, that activity with realistic intent seems surreal to myself and many of my generation. It is hard to believe that it was not always like this for younger people; a basic job could provide decency in the household, starting with a house.
The financial aspect of gradual change has proven to be quite cruel to the younger generation. Yet change presents itself in other ways; where one door closes, another one opens.
While our economy has shown no remorse through time, sexual freedom has experienced such growth that it opposes the status quo of our predecessors. There is still a long way to go, but we can still appreciate the long way it has come. Here is a moment to cheer for as well as loath change, when it is imperceptible.
